WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE SPRING BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Headline: Sunny spells and a few scattered showers. Today: Many places will have a dry day with bright or sunny spells. There could be a few scattered showers around but they will be few and far between. In the sunshine it should feel pleasantly warm. Maximum temperature 17 °C. Tonight: Still the odd shower around overnight but most parts should be dry with clear spells. Some mist and fog may form by the end of the night. Minimum temperature 9 °C. .
Friday: A fairly cloudy day but apart from the odd spot of light rain it should be a dry day. Winds will be light again with perhaps some afternoon brightness. Maximum temperature 16 °C. .
Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Generally fine and warm over the weekend with light winds and sunny skies. Thundery showers are likely to develop by Monday with the risk of a few heavy downpours. . UK Outlook for Monday 25 May 2009 to Wednesday 3 Jun 2009: A good deal of fine weather looks likely for many on Monday. The exceptions being across Scotland and Northern Ireland where it will remain unsettled with rain at times, particularly in the west. Also the south of England is at risk, albeit small, of catching some thundery rain drifting up from the Continent. This soon breaks down with a spell of more unsettled weather generally through the mid week period. Then high pressure building, across the south, bringing a return to largely dry weather with some sunshine. The temperature here, on the warm side at times. Further North the unsettled, and at times, windy theme is set to continue with near normal temperatures. Even here though, there will be drier, bright periods. .
